The Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship in Musician Institute USA, sponsored by Schecter Guitar Research, is awarded each Fall to a student enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program (US or non-US citizen) who demonstrates outstanding musicianship, band performance skills and originality in the Rock genre. The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the Guitar performance program only, and may not be transferred to “non-performance program” emphases ( Audio Engineering, Music Business, Independent Artist, Guitar Craft, or Film) within an AA degree.

Eligibility
  • To be considered for the Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship, you must take the following steps:
  •     Complete the Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship application (see application download instructions below).
  •     Submit a video recording (DVD format only) of you performing three (3) diverse songs on your guitar (electric or acoustic) within the Rock genre. It is recommended that they all be ORIGINAL live ensemble (band or duo) performances.

  •     Tuition credit of $2,500.00 ($1,250.00 per quarter for the first two quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a complete set of application package consisting of the following items to the Center for International Academic Exchange by the deadline of admission application.

  •     Two application forms attached with a 2-inch recent ID photo
  •     One copy of the highest-level diploma and official transcript in English or Chinese from the school  you attended
  •     Two letters of recommendation
  •     Study plan
  •     One copy of passport
  •     One copy of the original financial statement issued by a bank within six months
  •     English or Chinese proficiency certificate

 Note that the highest-level diploma and transcript issued by an international education institution must be authenticated by an ROC embassy, consulate, representative office or other agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Taiwan, ROC., (hereinafter referred to as “a Taiwan’s overseas representative office”) or presented by the applicant’s former school, which is to be directly mailed to Asia University in a sealed envelope. Graduating students are not required to hand in the diplomas during the application. However, once admitted, diploma and academic transcript of the highest academic degree and authenticated photocopy must be submitted at the time of registration, or admission will be cancelled.

Asia University offers degree programs conducted in either English or Chinese. Applicants who select Chinese-taught programs must submit Chinese proficiency certificate; whereas English proficiency certificate must be provided if applicants select English-taught programs. Language proficiency is mandatory to demonstrate adequate listening, reading, speaking, and writing abilities at a certain level for university academic pursuit. A minimum score of paper-based TOEFL 500, computer-based TOEFL 173, internet-based TOEFL 61, TOEIC 600, IELTS level 5 or equivalent is required. Applicants shall take official ETS TOEFL test and authorize ETS to release his/her TOEFL scores to Asia University directly by completing and submitting the official score report request form to ETS, and the institution code is 2362. An exemption for English proficiency certificate may be granted if applicants have earned a diploma or degree in an English-speaking country.

For those who select Chinese-taught programs, new TOCFL Level 3, old TOCFL Learner Level, CEFR B2, new HSK Level 4, old HSK Level 6, or equivalent is the minimum level in Chinese proficiency. For Vietnamese applicants who choose Chinese-taught programs, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Offices (TECO) in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have announced new regulations starting from July 1st of 2012 that only TOCFL test results are accepted for visa application. Malaysian applicants who intend to apply for undergraduate programs must submit Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and/or Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least a C-grade in Chinese Language Subject.

Scholarships
Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships provided by Taiwan government, such as Taiwan scholarship. Moreover, Asia University provides a limited number of scholarships each year for talented international students. All applicants may have an opportunity to compete for scholarships, depending on qualification of applicants, program admitted, and available budget. Applicants who have received Taiwan scholarship are not eligible to receive Asia University Scholarship.

Taiwan Scholarship
Important regulations regarding Taiwan scholarship are listed as follows; detail information can be obtained at http://english.moe.gov.tw. Applicants shall submit all required documents, including the acknowledgement letter of receiving application issued by Asia University, to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office in his/her home country by the end of March.

    Taiwan Embassy or Representative Offices will provide detail information of scholarship application (including selection criteria, scholarship types and quotas, application process, application period) in both Chinese and the local languages by January 31 of each year.
    In principle, the application period is from February 1st through March 31st of each year. However, the actual application period will in accordance with dates provided by the local Taiwan Representative Offices.
    Applicants must send the following documents within the specified period enclosed with their application to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office in his/her home country. Failure to include any of these documents renders the application incomplete, and the applicant will not be further considered for the scholarship, without further notice:
  •  Taiwan Scholarship Application Form (available at the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office)
  •  A copy of the applicant’s passport or other nationality certificates.
  •  A copy of the highest degree and academic transcripts. If issued by international educational institutions, these documents must be authenticated by an overseas Representative Office or be sealed and delivered by the awarding institutions. Documents in a language other than Chinese or English must be translated into Chinese or English and the translated documents must be authenticated.
  •  A copy of admission application materials to Asia University, e.g. the acknowledgement letter of receiving application that is issued by Asia University.
  •  A copy of a language proficiency certificate:
  •  Two letters of reference, signed and sealed in envelopes (i.e. from the principals, professors, or supervisors). Photo copies and email submissions of letters of recommendation will not be considered.
  •  Additional documents as specified by the individual representative offices.
    Upon reviewing applications and conducting interviews, the Taiwan Representative Offices will select successful candidates and alternate candidates which will be placed on a waiting list. Candidates and Asia University are to be notified by May 31 of each year.
    Notification of admission is scheduled by June 20. Successful candidates should submit a copy of the admission letter issued by Asia University to their local Taiwan Representative Office for verification by June 30 of each year; should candidates fail to submit this letter within the specified time period, the candidates must submit a written explanation and request verification from their Representative Offices. Failure to be admitted into Asia University will result in a suspension from the Scholarship Program. Failure to submit documents within the specified time period will result in disqualification, and the candidates on the waiting list will be offered a scholarship. The list of recipients must be finalized no later than July 31st of each year.

Asia University Scholarship
Currently, Asia University offers different types of scholarships, as shown below. The type of scholarship that student is awarded is decided by the Admission and Scholarship Committee.

  •     Scholarship A: tuition waiver, dormitory fee waiver, and monthly stipend of NT$6,000
  •     Scholarship B+: tuition waiver, dormitory fee waiver
  •     Scholarship B: tuition waiver
  •     Scholarship C+: 50% tuition waiver, 50% dormitory fee waiver
  •     Scholarship C: 50% tuition waiver

To apply for Asia University scholarship, applicants must specify in the application form and submit it with all required application materials to the Center for International Academic Exchange. Awarded students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs are supported for at most four, two, and three years, respectively. An average score of less than 75 and 80 in previous academic year for undergraduate and graduate students, respectively, will result in disqualification of receiving scholarship. To enhance internationalization and cultural exchange on campus, students awarded the part of monthly stipend are mandatory to participate in activities/services (30 hours per semester) arranged by the Office of International College.

Important Dates

Application for Studies at DU

Before you apply for a scholarship, you must submit an application for the degree programme using the online application service for international programmes in Sweden at www.universityadmissions.se. The application deadline is normally between October and mid-January: for exact dates, please see the website above.

Scholarship Value

International scholarships cover either 25 % of tuition fees or 50 % of tuition fees for a degree programme. The scholarships are distributed as follows over a calendar year:

25 % tuition fee coverage:

    1. 18 scholarships to be awarded for Master’s Programmes in English and Irish Literature, African Studies, Tourism Destination Development, Pre-Master Economics, Business Studies and the Bachelor’s Programme in International Tourism Marketing

    2. 6 scholarships for the Master’s Programme in Solar Energy Engineering

    3. 4 scholarships for the Master’s Programme in Business Intelligence

Benefits and Requirements

     1.Scholarships cover part of the tuition fee only and will not provide for accommodation, books, travel, or other personal or incidental expenses.

    2. Tuition fees will be waived in part for successful applicants. Payments are not made to the applicant.

    3. The award of the scholarship is conditional upon registering on campus in the degree programme for which the award is made.

    4. The scholarship is valid only for programmes starting during the upcoming academic year and is usually granted for one academic year (two semesters). An extension is possible for programmes that are longer than two semesters provided that study results are satisfactory.

    5. The award period can neither be altered nor be extended, and awards cannot be used towards or during exchange studies.

Selection Criteria

Eligible Countries

Scholarships are available to citizens of all non-EU/EEA countries who are required to pay tuition fees for full-time temporary studies at Dalarna University. However, applicants from the following countries who are eligible for the Swedish Institute scholarships are not eligible to apply for the DU scholarships:

Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Cambodia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia.

Applicants from Belarus can find information about the Open Europe Scholarship Scheme at http://oess.eu/en.

Selection and Decision
The Office of Education and Research at DU is responsible for the processing of scholarship applications.

Great emphasis is placed on the applicant’s previous education, references and cover letter. The Vice Chancellor makes the final decision on awards.

Limitations
Only applicants who have been selected in the first selection round at www.universityadmissions.se may be considered. There is no age limit; however, you are not eligible for the scholarships if you are already studying in the programme in question.

Juilliard’s admissions policies are “need-blind,” meaning that applying for financial aid will not hurt your chances of being admitted.  The VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) offers talented prospective students the unique opportunity to pursue a degree in a selection of Master’s programmes at VU University. VU University has committed to providing approximately 1 million euro towards attracting highly motivated, excellent students.

All applications received by 1 March will be reviewed by the faculty at which the applicant will be participating in a Master’s programme. Faculties then nominate applicants to the central VUFP scholarship committee, which then awards scholarships to the most talented students. The award is based on the motivation letter, the quality of previous education and the student’s academic performance therein. A scholarship offer will then be made to successful candidates.
Eligible candidates
The VU Fellowship Programme (VUFP) is a scholarship for strongly motivated students with excellent study results.
Eligible candidates must be able to prove their academic excellence, must be admitted to a preselected Master’s degree at VU University, do not have the Dutch nationality and have not graduated from a Dutch higher education programme.

Students following a one-year Master’s programme may not apply for the VUFP scholarship for a second year. Students already enrolled in a two-year Master’s programme who have not been awarded a VUFP scholarship in 2012/2013 are not eligible to apply for the VUFP scholarship 2013/2014.
Scholarships amounts
The VUFP scholarship covers your tuition fee, and provides for an allowance towards study and living costs (paid out in 3 installments over the year). Please note that the scholarship does not cover all your living expenses.

There are two variations of the VUFP scholarship:

    €5.000 to students paying the tuition fee for EEA students
    €15.000 to students paying the tuition fee for non-EEA students

The grant is awarded to students in their first year of a Master’s degree programme. Only students following a 2-year Master’s programme may apply for a second year and the prerequisite for a second application is the achievement of at least 80% of the 60 possible credits. The Faculty VUFP committee will be asked to demonstrate to the Central VUFP committee that these credits have indeed been achieved.

To be nominated the student needs to be (conditionally) admitted to one of the Master’s programmes. Nominations will be handled by the admissions officers.

Master’s degree programmes: A step-by-step application guide

    First the candidate should apply for admission to a Master’s programme at the University of Groningen .
    When the candidate applies for this admission, he or she must indicate on the online application that he/she wishes to be nominated for a Eric Bleumink Fund scholarship.

    If the study programme board agrees with the candidacy for a EBF scholarship, they will send a standard application form including the motivation of the candidate to the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund prior to 1 March. Per studyprogramme only two candidates can be nominated.

    The Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund will take a decision during their meeting in March.

    The studyprogramme and the candidate will both be informed on the decision taken by the Board.

    If a candidate is selected the coordinator and the candidate will have contact on the details of his or her arrival. If necessary he/she can contact the Board of the Eric Bleumink Fund for extra assistance.

 Scholarships in the The ESP Guitar Scholarship 2013 for ESP Guitar Scholarship

The ESP Guitar Scholarship, sponsored by the ESP Guitar Company, is awarded each Fall and Spring to a student enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) program (US or non-US citizen) who demonstrates outstanding musicianship in the Rock genre. The scholarship is applicable for students enrolled in the Guitar performance program only, and may not be transferred to “non-performance program” emphases (Audio Engineering, Music Business, Independent Artist, Guitar Craft, or Film) within an AA degree.

Eligibility

To be considered for an ESP Guitar Scholarship, you must take the following steps:

Complete an ESP Guitar Scholarship application (see application download instructions below).
Submit a video recording (DVD format only) of you performing three (3) diverse songs (in any style within the Rock genre) on your instrument. It is recommended that this include two (2) live ensemble (band or duo) performances, and one (1) solo piece. You may use electric and/or acoustic guitars.

    Tuition credit of $2,000.00 ($1,000.00 per quarter for the first two quarters of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)

 Scholarships in the Harry Worthington 2013 for doctoral

Two Harry Worthington Scholarships are available to applicants wishing to undertake doctoral study in any Faculty of the University for entry in 2013-14. These scholarships were founded under the will of Miss Doreen Worthington in memory of her father Harry, a local steel manufacturer, and are awarded to two outstanding new PhD applicants.

Award details

A Harry Worthington Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees and provides an annual, tax-free maintenance stipend at the standard UK Research rate, which for 2012-13 was £13,590.

Awards are tenable for a maximum of three years full-time subject to satisfactory progress.

Eligibility

    You should have, or expect to achieve, a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent qualifications gained outside the UK in an appropriate area of study.
    You should be applying to start your first year of study with the University in 2013-14 on a full-time or part-time programme of doctoral study (i.e. after 1st August 2013, exact start date to be agreed with your supervisor/ department).

    Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.

How to apply

Discuss your research plans with the relevant academic department.
Apply for admission to the University. We advise you to apply for admission as early as possible, and at least a week before the scholarship application deadline in order to receive your application number in plenty of time – you will need this to apply for a scholarship.

    Once you have received an application number, complete the online scholarship application form

 Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis – applications are assessed on the basis of academic success and qualifications, experience, research background, a clear well-articulated research proposal, the potential impact of the research and a good match with supervisor/ departmental expertise.

Closing date for 2013-14 entry is 12 noon UK time on 1st February 2013. Please note that some departments may have independent deadlines for particular research projects, which may be earlier than the scholarship deadline.

You can expect to hear if your scholarship application has been successful by the end of April 2013.

Am I eligible?

For 2013-14, approximately 7 scholarships will be available for full-time Master’s degrees.

Candidates should be applying to start a new graduate course at Oxford. Applications to The Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme may be made by those working in fields covered by the following faculties: Classics (including classical archaeology); English Language and Literature; History (including history of art and the history of architecture); Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics; Medieval and Modern Languages (covering most European languages and their literature); Music; Oriental Studies (including Far Eastern and Middle Eastern Studies, and the study of a wide range of languages); Philosophy; and Theology.

Please ensure you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including English language requirements.
This scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other awards. Current graduate students are not eligible to apply.

What does an Ertegun Scholarship cover?
100% of university and college fees, and a grant for living costs (the rate in 2011-12 was £13,590).

Awards are made for the full duration of a student’s fee liability for the agreed course. If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.

How do I apply?

Apply at the same time as you apply to Oxford by selecting ‘Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarships in the Humanities’ in the Funding Section of the University’s Graduate Application Form. Candidates should apply by Application Deadline 2 (4 January 2013 for Philosophy; 18 January 2013 for all other subjects).

In order to be considered for this scholarship, you must submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline listed above and you must have been offered a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date (13 March 2013).

You must also complete a supporting statement and upload it together with your Graduate Application Form by the application deadline in order for your application to be complete.

If you do not apply in full by the deadline, you will not be considered for the scholarship, even if you have selected Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Postgraduate Scholarships in the Humanities on the Graduate Application Form.

How will I know the outcome?

All successful candidates will be notified by email. If you do not hear from us, then your application to this scheme has been unsuccessful. Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually or provide feedback on applications.

Studying for an MBA is a fantastic way to develop your skills, expand your knowledge and improve your employment prospects. We recognise the personal and financial commitment involved in postgraduate study. That’s why we offer a range of funding support to eligible MBA students.

The Director of the Bournemouth MBA will award a number of scholarships to outstanding professional students enrolling on the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013.

The Bournemouth MBA Director’s Scholarship is available for full–time and part–time applicants, irrespective of nationality or citizenship status.

The scholarship is for the sum of £2,000, which will be deducted from the published tuition fee or provided to you as a cheque. For full–time students the scholarship will be for the first year of the course and for part–time students the scholarship will be on a pro–rata basis.

To be eligible for the Bournemouth MBA Director’s Scholarship you should normally have a minimum First Class Honours UK undergraduate degree or equivalent academic qualification and/or three years work experience. If English is not your first language, you will need IELTS (Academic) 6.5 or above. You must also meet any other conditions relating to your offer.

 You need to apply for this scholarship before 30th June 2013 and submit this form with your MBA application form. We will advise you if you have been successful when you are sent an offer of a place on the course. The scholarship will only be offered to students enrolling in September 2013 and can not be carried forward to future intakes.

Please note that your financial situation will not be taken into account as these scholarships are a reward for individual achievement.

The Business School launches new MBA Scholarships for students looking to start the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013.

The Business School is delighted to offer six fully–funded places for UK/EU and International students offered a place to start the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013. These scholarships are worth £15,000 each, covering the full course fee.

In addition, we are offering six part–funded places for International (non-EU) students looking to commence the Bournemouth MBA in September 2013. These scholarships are worth £7,500 each, covering half of the course fee.

The scholarships are for full–time students only. They are not available for students wishing to study part-time.

The Bournemouth MBA
The Bournemouth MBA is our flagship course designed for professionals seeking core business and management expertise before extending into one of several bespoke specialisms.

You will study at our impressive Executive Business Centre in Bournemouth, on the stunning South Coast.

A recent study by the Association of MBAs revealed that 79% of members chose to study an MBA to improve their job opportunities. With an average salary of £66,500 on completion of an MBA, it’s a sound investment.

 Scholarship selection criteria:

Your eligibility for the fully–funded scholarship of £15,000 will be based on academic merit, work experience and an outstanding personal profile as evidenced in your personal statement. The fully–funded scholarships are open to UK/EU and International (non–EU) students who have been offered a place on the Bournemouth MBA to start in September 2013.

Applications for the part–funded scholarship of £7,500 will be assessed on academic merit and only International (non–EU) students offered a place on the Bournemouth MBA may apply.

The scholarships are offered in addition to the MBA Director’s Scholarship. You may apply for the MBA Director’s Scholarship but you can only be in receipt of one scholarship.

The closing date for applications is 31 May 2013 for entry to the course in September 2013. You can apply at the same time you submit your course application form or after you have received an offer of a place. However, you must hold an offer for the Bournemouth MBA before your scholarship is considered. Scholarships will be paid on a ‘fee reduction’ basis only and not cheque/cash.
